TOTALLY BIZARRE.. but it must be said.

  • Mar. 2nd, 2009 at 2:58 AM

I'm up at 3am, and I usually wake up at 4am for work... yet I can't sleep. Too excited/nervous for tomorrow's shoot.

So ABCnews is on. And they just ran this segment about Barbie.. and they showed the facts of the popularity of barbie, stating
"There are more Barbies in the United States than people"

and my mind went... "holy cow! What if the Barbies built a barbie army and took over?"

Maybe a movie one day?

--- has it really been 5 years since those vegas boys got attacked by their tiger?

My production I class is in desperate need of people to act in our first films.

The Recruit

  • Feb. 15th, 2009 at 10:52 AM

Mike and I watched The Recruit last night. It's about collin ferral being recruited into the cia by al pachino. I really enjoyed it. At somepoints the screenplay stunk, but for the part it was real good. I enjoyed editing and the action wasn't that bad.
However I've only seen two pachino movies (this one and the one with him and Deniro.) and they both had the same ending.

Bangkok Dangerous

  • Feb. 14th, 2009 at 1:09 AM

Just watched Bangkok Dangerous

At first I didn't get into it but then I really started to enjoy it. But I didn't like how they ended it. I can see why so many teachers discourage that kind of ending..

I'd write more but don't want to spoil it! (and can't remember how to do hidden text...)
Remembered~! )
What is the theme?

A Moment...

  • Feb. 13th, 2009 at 9:46 AM

In my Short Froms in Film and Video  we watched a series of shorts that were produced for Cannes. They all had to deal with a "moment". We were assigned to come up with our own "moments". Here's what I was working on:

Moment for love )

I was hoping to show how the distance has grown between them. The girl holds the picture, and is crying because the distance that has grown between them. By the man embracing her in his sleep, he is subconciously reaching to be closer to her. She feels that this is a reassurance that he still loves her.  I know this is short but I would love to direct it! It would work as a Production I film because there's not much sound needed (although I'm sure I could do something rythmically with their breathing and her crying), but but I think that I could use color effectively in this scene.</font>

Tommy Not Junior

  • Feb. 13th, 2009 at 9:32 AM

This is from Development and Preproduction. It's a treatment intended for a Production II film (post sync sound). I always write stories that are happy, sing songy, and have a very Disney feel to them... I wanted to challenge myself and write something different, something with a little more serious tone and subject matter.

TOMMY NOT JUNIOR )

My(and class) critics:

-NEEDS ENDING more closure.

-Why is this time different--- why does he take action this time?

 -More in kitchen

A good place to start...

Wow! I haven't blogged in a long time.  I decided it's a good time to pick it back up, and start fresh with a whole new journal (old journal from highschool: [info]sundaysregrets ). I'm hoping (as several people in my screenwriting class sugested) that blogging and just writing any thoughts I may have will help me overcome a chronic case of writer's block.

So, being the "first" entry, I guess I should introduce myself. Here's a copy paste of my spiel:

I'm obviously Ashley (Alysa "a-leez-a" is my middle name) I'm a Film/Video student. I transferred in the Fall from College of Dupage to Columbia College Chicago. I think I'm a "Junior", depending on how many credits Columbia accepts! I'm focusing mostly on editing, hoping to one day have a wedding videography business (but Hollywood wouldn't be so bad, either).
I am NOT normal, but my quirks are my best traits! I'm the opposite of the average college student. I wake up at 4AM, and am in bed by 9PM. My family owns a small independent coffee shop in the Hanover Park Metra train station (That's a Northwest suburb for you non-Chicagoans ), that is only open in the wee-hours of the morning! We also have another business: “Scoopie-Poo and We’ll Walk Them Too…” It’s a dog walking/ sitting/ and yard clean-up service. My dad came up with the idea after he retired from being a cop for 30 years! It's been really successful. Oh, and I've also been working on starting a small videography business (mostly transferring VHS to DVD, but some editing). I live in Roselle with the parents, but our home more resembles a zoo. We are involved in rescue and have 19 pets( I had 20 but one of my cats recently passed away RIP MARSHY!). (You all are thinking "Good thing this is an online class, this girl must STINK!" Don't worry, I take showers regularly!)  I’m engaged to a fellow rescuer, Michael, who has 12 pugs at his home. We met through an internship I did in high school, and probably will get married after we finish school.

So I'm going to try and post everything I can think of... I'll use this as my personal journal, my dream journal, my random-ideas-as-they-come journal, and maybe I'll even post stuff I'm working on... I'm going to try and be an avid blogger!  I might make things that I feel are too personal for just anybody for friends only.

Right now I'm full of enthusiasm, excited to get this journal going. Let's hope this works out for me! Is it too late to make a new years resolution? If not then this is it! To keep up with my journal. (the do my hair enough resolution was pretty lame anyways).

Take care, and PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK on the things I post! Feedback always helps to improve one's work!
